The Abitibi-Ouest MRC is made up of 21 municipalities and two unorganized territory. Most of these rural communities total fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. That means there is every likelihood that you will know your neighbours.
About half of the total population lives in these rural communities, while the other half reside in the cities of La Sarre (35%) and Macamic (13%).
While the region is vast, almost everything is accessible within a half-hour drive. And we’re talking a very pleasant, peaceful 30-minute drive… not the kind where you’re stuck in traffic.
