Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of nearby activities such as golf, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. In April 1756, soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the La Sarre Regiment departed from France to defend New France. They were distinguished by the yellow fleur-de-lis on their caps. Stationed at Fort Frontenac, they played a key role in the capture of Oswego before continuing their campaigns into the wilderness.

Deployed to defend Quebec City, they were eventually pushed back by English offensives and forced to retreat to Montreal. After a failed attempt to retake Quebec, they were recalled to Montreal, where the French army surrendered to the English invaders on September 8, 1760. Throughout these campaigns, they took shelter in small encampments known as bivouacs, essential for surviving the harsh climate.

225 years later, to welcome tourists and travelers in La Sarre, a new establishment was founded: the Motel Bivouac.
