Covering an area of 931 km2, Lake Abitibi is 139 km long and 49 km wide. Straddling the border between Quebec and Ontario, the lake has approximately 225 beaches and 898 islands offering a multitude of exceptional landscapes that are highly appreciated by residents of Abitibi-Ouest.
Founded in 1993, the Club Nautique Lac Abitibi inc. is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote nautical activity on Lake Abitibi and implement various initiatives to ensure safer navigation on this body of water and the rivers adjacent to it.
Each year, the organization sets up more than 250 buoys to create a network of navigable waterways totaling more than 70 km. These marked routes provide safe access to the various public wharves, certain tourist attractions and the neighboring municipalities of Rapide-Danseur, Gallichan, Roquemaure, Palmarolle, Ste-Hélène-de-Mancebourg, Clerval, La Reine and La Sarre.
A navigation map of Lake Abitibi, available in printed or digital version for GPS, offers more than 1000 km of secure navigable routes allowing boaters to discover exceptional landscapes.
